How do I list my car on Rentro?
Sign up for a free account, click 'List Your Car', and fill out a simple form with your car details, photos, daily rate, availability, and rules. Your listing goes live within minutes.
What are the requirements to list a car?
Your car must be registered in Australia, roadworthy, and covered by a current comprehensive vehicle insurance policy that permits private rental or peer-to-peer use. You should confirm this with your insurer before listing.
How much can I earn?
Earnings depend on your car type, location, and availability. Economy cars typically earn $50–75/day, mid-range sedans $65–100/day, and SUVs $100–150+/day. Many owners earn $1,000–3,000+ per month with part-time listings.
What fees does Rentro charge?
Rentro currently charges 0% platform fee — you keep 100% of your rental income. So if you set a $70/day rate, you earn $70. There are no other mandatory fees, though optional paid services like Featured Listing can boost visibility.
How do I get paid?
Payments are automatically transferred to your linked bank account every week. You can track all earnings in your Rentro dashboard.
Am I protected against damage?
Every renter pays a refundable security bond before the rental starts. You and the renter should document the car's condition at handover and return with photos and the signed contract. If damage occurs beyond fair wear and tear, the bond may be used up to the agreed amount, with any additional amount handled under the rental contract and your insurer's process. Rentro can help mediate disputes, but Rentro does not act as insurer and does not guarantee that an insurer will accept a claim.
What if a renter cancels?
Rentro's cancellation policy is fair to both parties. Your calendar updates immediately and you can accept another booking. If a renter cancels within 24 hours of the rental, you may be eligible for compensation.
Do I need to have insurance on my car?
Yes. Your car must hold a current comprehensive insurance policy that expressly permits private rental or peer-to-peer use. Rentro does not provide, underwrite, or broker insurance. Check with your insurer before listing. If your policy is denied, cancelled, voided, or refuses a claim because of rental use, you remain responsible for the vehicle and any claim.
Can I accept or decline bookings?
Yes. You have full control. When a renter requests a booking, you can review their profile, message them, and then approve or decline. You can also set your own rules (pet-friendly, smoking, delivery, etc.).
How do I set my availability?
Your Rentro calendar shows when your car is available. You can block out dates, set recurring availability, and update it anytime from your dashboard.
What if I want to take my car back for personal use?
Just block those dates in your calendar. Any existing bookings won't be affected. You have complete control over your availability.
How are disputes handled?
Rentro mediates all disputes fairly. We review evidence from both parties, check photos, and make a decision. Most disputes are resolved within 48 hours.
What if there's damage to my car?
Document it with photos immediately, keep all messages in Rentro, and report it through the app as soon as possible. We'll review available evidence and contact the renter. The security bond may be used for eligible costs, but major damage or uncovered loss may need to be handled through your insurer and the signed rental contract.
Can I offer different rates for different dates?
Yes. You can set dynamic pricing — higher rates for peak seasons, lower rates for quiet periods. This flexibility helps you maximize earnings year-round.
What if I don't have photos of my car?
You'll need at least 3 clear photos to list. They should show the exterior, interior, and license plate. High-quality photos lead to more bookings.
Can I list multiple cars?
Yes. Many Rentro owners manage entire fleets. You'll have a separate dashboard for each vehicle, making it easy to manage multiple listings.
Do I need to meet the renter?
That's up to you. Many owners arrange pickup/delivery or meet briefly to hand over keys. Some use keyless entry for a fully contactless experience. Flexibility is one of Rentro's advantages.
What about rego expiry and servicing?
Your responsibility. Keep your car registered, insured, and well-maintained. Renters expect reliable vehicles. Poor condition or overdue registration can result in delisting.
Can I list my car as Uber-eligible?
Yes. If your car meets Uber's requirements, mark it as Uber-eligible. This can increase bookings and rates significantly, as many renters use Rentro cars for rideshare work.
What's the best way to maximize bookings?
Set competitive pricing, upload excellent photos, write a compelling description, respond quickly to messages, maintain 5-star reviews, and consider paid services like Featured Listing to boost visibility.
